Question: Do all meditation require emptying the mind?

Answer: No. Not every meditation technique requires emptying the mind. Transcendental Meditation is the practice of clearing the mind of all thoughts. However other meditation techniques such as Yantra Meditation and Mantra Meditation involve bringing the mind to a single point of focus.

Mantra Meditation is a type of meditation that uses the repetition of a mantra, which is also known as an affirmation.

Yantra Meditation uses symbols to focus the mind. Wikipedia states, “Traditionally they are used in Eastern mysticism to balance the mind or focus it on a spiritual concept.”
